Scheduled to compete driving an FIA Pre-63 spec Jaguar E-Type DHC in the Equipe Classic Racing Series, plus in the Goodwood GRRC Spring Sprint and other events to be advised.

2023

Winner of Goodwood GRRC Spring Sprint for the over 3-litre modified/road legal class. Equipe Classic Racing Series with FIA pre-63 spec. Jaguar E-Type Drophead Coupe.

2022

Testing at Guadix (Spain) in Feb/March: in a Group 2 BMW CSL Batmobile, a Chevron B26. March: Raced Jaguar E-Type at Brands Hatch (2nd in class 3rd overall). April: raced Chevron B26 and BMW 3.5CSL Batmobile at the Peter Auto Mugello Classic in Italy. Competed in the Goodwood GRRC Spring Sprint (1st in class in Jaguar E-Type). June: racing E-Type in the Equipe Pre-63 series at Silverstone GP Circuit. Then in August, racing E-Type at Snetterton Circuit. Championship winner in Equipe Classic Racing Pre-63 Series in Class for over-3litre cars.

2021

Masters Historic Sports Car Championship (Chevron B26) 2nd in Class at Brands Hatch GP also a Lola T298 sports prototype race at Donington. HSCC Thundersports Championship (Chevron B26) Brands Hatch GP. GRRC Spring Sprint at Goodwood Motor Circuit (1st in pre-1980 class). Equipe Pre-63 Racing Series (Self-built Jaguar E-Type 1st Overall Brands Hatch, 3rd Overall Silverstone GP). GRRC 2-Hour Karting Endurance Race at Thruxton Circuit (Team Rossi Engineering). Also, much testing of other cars for next year, eg BMW 3.5 CSL Batmobile ex-Spa 24-hour winner. Targa Florio 3-day Regularity Rally in Sicily in an 800hp Ferrari 812 Superfast.

2020

Testing race cars was to begin in March at Guadix circuit in Spain, with a full season planned in several cars. However, the Covid-19 global pandemic stopped all racing. Post-Covid race calendar to be advised….. Meanwhile, and under self-isolation, an FIA pre-63 specification Jaguar E-Type DHC has had a ground-up race preparation by Roberto for 2021 onwards. NB. See 1975-1979 for previous racing with Jaguar E-Types.

2019

Other cars raced include ex-works Alfa Romeo GTA, Ford Falcon Sprint, Sunbeam Tiger, Triumph TR4, Austin A105/6 Westminster at various circuits including at Spa- Francorchamps.

2011:  

Masters pre-66 Touring Cars in Ford Falcon. HRDC Touring Greats. Several races in the AMOC Intermarque Series. Mille Miglia Tribute Regularity Rally in Ferrari 599 finishing in 6th place.

2010:   

Maserati Trofeo races at UK round at Brands Hatch. Masters Cloth Cap Series. Masters Top Hat Series OBG.  Masters Series. Vernasca Silver Flag Hillclimb. World Sports Car Masters. Masters Series 1-hr Historic Race at Chimay Circuit outright race win with ex-works Lotus Elan 26R. Oulton Park Gold Cup in Lotus 26R. Coppa Milano-Sanremo Historic Rally. Brands Hatch SR&GT Challenge. Vernasca Silver Flag Hillclimb. Track tested a Formula One Ferrari 312 B3 in Italy.

2006

Guest driver on Maserati Trofeo World Series races. Two weeks in South Africa: Kyalami GP Circuit Sprint/Time Attack Competition driving eight different racing cars. Several drives in more racing cars at Zwartskops Racing Circuit South Africa. Oulton Park Gold Cup race. Bologna-San Luca Hillclimb class winner. Valsaviore Classic Hillclimb. Vernasca Silver Flag Hillclimb. Milano-Sanremo Classic Rally in a Lotus 26R. Track tested a Formula One Tecno 3-litre in Italy.

2005

2004

Spa 6-Hours Top Hat and Cloth Cap Race. Spa 6-Hours Sports Racing Challenge & Group 4 HSCC/HRSR Historic Racing Saloons with Merlyn-Lotus Mk6. Also raced an Alfa Romeo Giulia TI Super. Class wins and places. Invited to test Maserati Trofeo race cars at Monza with Maserati Corse Works Team.

2003

1998

The British GT Championship sponsored by Privilege Insurance Company. Roberto was the number-1 driver racing a GT1 Harrier Cosworth and a GT2 Maserati Ghibli Cup car. The cars raced under the Natty Racing banner. Donington track test of the ex-PierLuigi Formula One Minardi-Ferrari; one of six Formula One cars tested.

1995-1997

Track tested the 1970 ex- Mark Donohue Le Mans Ferrari 512M. Track tested the ex-Jackie Stewart Ferrari 250 GTO. Track testing and race car development, including building the world’s fastest Alfa Romeo ‘GTAm’ 500bhp/790kg.

1994

BRSCC Alfa Romeo Championship. (winning ‘Driver of the Year’ award) BRSCC Italian Intermarque Championship. On Easter Monday, after an epic race-long side-by-side battle with Chris Snowdon at Castle Combe Circuit, Autosport Magazine giving it the “Race of the Year”. 

1993

1988

BRSCC Alfa Romeo Championship. BRSCC Italian Intermarque Championship. Many race wins and lap records. Built and raced a Group A Maserati Biturbo BTCC spec race car (quicker than the ‘works’ Campari car). This Maserati was due to race in the BTCC but the organisers banned turbo cars. The car then raced successfully in the BRSCC Italian Intermarque Championship.

1987

1986

1985

BRSCC Alfa Romeo Championship (Champion). Built and raced the legendary, multiple championship winning, full race Alfa Romeo Junior Zagato 2 litre GTAm. HSCC Pre-65 Saloon Car Championship. Races at the Atlantic Computers International Historic Races (Jaguar E-Type). Race instructing private clients at 96 Club events in a selection of Alfa Romeos and Ferrari Dino 246GT.

1984

BARC Pre-65 Saloon Car Championship. Began the build of the championship winning Alfa Romeo 2 litre GTAm Junior Zagato. The project was supported by the late Peter Crutch.

1980-1983

Built and raced a 1964 FIA-spec Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT race car. Track-tested rare classic and competition cars, the property of the furniture designer Peter Crutch. Race instructing private clients at 96 Club events. Track testing and race car development.

1979

Race prepared and outright win at Silverstone in a 1961 3.8 E-Type Jaguar Roadster. Raced the E-Type in AMOC Historic GT Championship, JDC Jaguars and HSCC Road Sports Cars, JDC Aston Martin/Jaguar/Porsche/Ferrari Challenge with success.

1975-1978

Track tested and gave passenger rides in a new Ferrari Boxer at Goodwood Motor Circuit and Silverstone GP Circuit on Maranello Concessionaires’ Trackdays run by Michael Scott. Developed, built and tested experimental Modsports 500bhp Jaguar E-Type Turbo. This car was track-tested at Brands Hatch, but the project ended when race organisers (fearing an ‘arms race’) banned turbos for Modsports cars. The E-Type was converted to triple Webers and sold.

1974

BRSCC Simoniz Special Saloon Championship. Esso Uniflo Special Saloon Car Championship. Podium finish first time out in Ford Anglia 1760cc Lotus/BRM.

1968-1973

Various track testing, including an invitation to drive the entire range of new BMWs at Brands Hatch. Race car development, including assisting Steve Minton in the building of a 1760cc Lotus/BRM powered Ford Anglia Special Saloon. A 3.8 litre Jaguar-powered Ford Anglia project began but was side-lined in favour of the lightweight Lotus-Anglia.

1967

Attended Brands Hatch Motor Racing Stables in a Lotus Formula Ford. Drove in race car test sessions at Brands Hatch in an Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint and a Lotus Cortina.

1966

First competitive event: Oval Racing Sprint Race. In the 1966 Production Car Finals at Wimbledon Stadium, Roberto achieved runner-up position by 0.002seconds to the Hot Rod World Champion who was driving a Jaguar E-Type. The first prize was a luxury foreign holiday. Roberto was driving a self-prepared 997cc Ford Anglia. Roberto switched immediately to circuit racing with a course at Brands Hatch Motor Racing Stables.
